Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised across various states, Sean Alan Mazur, now based in Los Angeles, embodies a diverse blend of influences that manifest in his music. Mazur, who also delves into acting and painting, finds his truest expression through his musical releases.
At the core of Mazur’s artistry lies the desire to evoke emotions and create connections through his music. Unlike many lyricists who draw inspiration from others, Mazur’s lyrical content stems purely from his own emotions and experiences. He describes his creative process as organic, allowing emotions to flow freely without the constraints of emulation.
In his upcoming EP, “THE DARKSIDE OF EROS,” Mazur ventures into themes of revenge, delusion, and heartbreak, showcasing a departure from his previous melancholic tone. The album, set to release on June 14th, promises a sonic journey through the darker realms of human emotions, accompanied by rich production courtesy of his collaborator, siloe.
Reflecting on his musical journey, Mazur recalls his humble beginnings, with his first song penned at the age of twelve. Despite the initial embarrassment of having his parents discover his musical aspirations, Mazur’s passion for songwriting persevered, fueled by encouragement from his father and the musical backdrop of his upbringing.
Since officially stepping into the music scene in 2022 as MAXUR, Mazur has approached his craft with newfound dedication and authenticity. Departing from the conventional route of purchasing beats, Mazur opts for a more hands-on approach, starting from scratch with just his lyrics and a vision for the sonic landscape.
Mazur’s musical influences span a wide spectrum, drawing inspiration from artists like SZA, Jorja Smith, and Troye Sivan, while carving out his unique niche in the dark pop/R&B genre.
