Sir Gregory Von Gotham: Elevating Hip-Hop with Grit, Wit, and ‘Bing Bong’

Sir Gregory Von Gotham has been establishing himself as one of the most talented, creative, skilled artists working in hip hop right now. With each subsequent release, he expands on a unique sound that blends dark humor, vivid imagery, experimental yet easily digestible production and an old school sensibility of just being really, really good at rapping. With ‘Bing Bong,’ he continues that trend. When the MTA announcement “stand clear of the closing doors please” drops over ominous violins and strings, it feels like an invitation to join Sir Gregory on a wild subway ride through the NYC streets that have clearly defined him, where “everything moves fast” and “everybody gotta hustle.” The brilliant use of that sample, the instrumental’s nod to New York drill music and Sir Gregory’s distinctly East Coast flow create an immersive vibe that perfectly complements the song’s subject matter.  That kind of thoughtful attention to detail, coupled with Sir Gregory’s ability to shift between hilarious punchlines and sincere storytelling – often within the same bar – gives his music an exciting, unpredictable quality that keeps the listener hooked.
