Trenchal talks about the inspiration behind the track: “This record came to be after
many long weeks of strictly writing some sad R&B music. After an intense falling
through with a long time fling, I was in a rabbit hole of just writing heart-breaking type of music. However, after some time, I realized I was ready to remind myself of the confidence I had in who I was and not to sit there in self doubt. That’s when I wrote and produced the beat for the song that ended up becoming “MISUNDERSTANDING”. It taught me that sometimes you don’t need to drown in those feelings to get over them
but to put them aside and revive that self love again instead. “MISUNDERSTANDING”
to me is a record of confidence, and acknowledging myself but doing it in a way that the clubs can feel too.”
