The Taut – Satisfied / Changes

Release Date: 21 March 2025

London-based indie rock’n’roll outfit The Taut are delighted to be announcing their next new single – “Satisfied”, due to be released on all digital platforms. This trio are also backing up the release with a stunning ‘B-Side’ cover of “Changes” – showing both their dynamic capabilities alongside sincere talent and skill.

Speaking on the main single – Tom Campbell (Vocals and Guitar) tells us:
The verse and chorus riffs had been sitting separately in the lumberyard, eventually the two came together in the room with the band and then Nick (Bowley – Bass) came up with the hooky backing vocals for the chorus. From that point on the song really wrote
itself lyrically. It was satisfying to play and so the song became “Satisfied”.
In reality it is just a story about the song itself, the process as a band and our feeling towards it.”

In a world dominated by the pursuit of satisfaction, this track is simply a reminder that satisfaction can be found in simple places. Tom cautions that while there is certainly a time and place for well-polished and emotive songwriting – that isn’t where this song
belongs – don’t overthink it – enjoy it!

Tom goes on to talk about the reasons behind the ‘B-Side’ – “Changes
“A lot of people will have first heard this song in the 2000s as the version with Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne where the lyrics were tweaked for their father daughter relationship. I didn’t hear it again for years until discovering the Charles Bradley version which eventually led me to the Black Sabbath original. With our version we’ve tried to pay homage to both Sabbath and Bradley. There’s no explanation needed for the meaning of the song, it’s very relatable to a lot people and was relevant to me in the early days of this band. We were always going to do a cover, and this felt like the right one.

The band are emerging with some powerful tracks, and this is the lead single from the forthcoming debut EP “Get Loose”. With a sound not dissimilar to that of early Artic Monkeys – the band list Jack White, QUOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures and The Black Keys as some of their contemporary influences.

With the intention of capturing ‘a moment in time’ for the band –recordings were done live at ‘Salvation’ with some follow up sessions for vox and percussion at ‘Small Pond’ (both located in their sacred home from home in Brighton).

Despite a low profile in terms of existing releases, The Taut are performing live in venues across London, putting on some impressive performances and already encouraging new fans to jump on board and enjoy the ride.

As one punter put it outside The Dublin Castle, Camden on the night of their first gig, “The Taut by name. Tight by nature”.

The Taut are:

Tom Campbell – Vocals, Guitar

Nick Bowley – Bass

Jono Helsby – Drums
