Queensland-based Nepali-speaking Bhutanese Australian composer Kiran Biswa has unveiled his first orchestral composition, Thoughts—a work that marks a cultural milestone in the global music landscape.
What makes this release remarkable is that Thoughts is the first orchestral composition by a Nepali-speaking composer to be recorded in collaboration with Budapest Symphony Orchestra which is one of Hungary’s most distinguished ensembles, with a rich legacy dating back to 1943. The 50 piece Orchestra brought Biswa’s vision to life in a powerful recording session at Tom Tom’s Concert Hall in Hungary.
The piece carries the weight and grandeur of an epic cinematic saga, blending emotive swells with ethereal textures. Its melodic lines are both captivating and narrative, weaving a fusion of Eastern sensibilities with Western symphonic traditions. The result is music that feels expansive, heavenly, and deeply moving—an ambitious debut that establishes Kiran Biswa as a composer to watch.
Kiran Biswa’s Thoughts is more than just a musical work; it is a bridge between cultures, reflecting his unique identity as a Bhutanese Australian of Nepali heritage while engaging with one of Europe’s most storied orchestral traditions.
