Tankus return with their most fearless and focused statement yet: their 4th studio album, ’Valley of Distraction’, out today via 5dB Records. Produced by the legendary Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Grinderman), the new record captures the anarchic soul of a band who’ve lived life in motion – criss-crossing Europe for over a decade, forging a cult following one sweat-drenched night at a time.
But this album marks a shift. It’s Tankus in sharp focus: raw, raucous, and resolutely real.
“We’ve always said we’re in the band we’d want to watch,” says frontman Jaz Delorean. “With this record, we set out to capture that magic, unfiltered.”
The result is a live-recorded, analogue-fired shot of theatrical punk rock’n’roll – wild, defiant and unmistakably human. These are songs full of grit and heart, drawn from the backroads of life. There’s beauty in the chaos, and purpose in the noise.

Written between tour vans, soundchecks and a houseboat moored on a quiet bend of the Thames, ‘Valley of Distraction’ is a record that find Tankus embracing their roots whilst pushing forward. They entered the studio with over 30 songs, whittled it down to their sharpest work yet, and recorded everything as live.
“The whole thread of this album is: how live can we make this sound?” says Delorean. “Mistakes are sacred. Errors are divine. We weren’t aiming for perfection – we were aiming for truth.”
Producer Jim Sclavunos was the ideal collaborator – a kindred spirit drawn to the raw and the real.
“The level of musicianship in Tankus is phenomenal,” says Sclavunos. “Tankus is the complete package – this album is a snapshot of the raw energy they bring to every performance.”
The album swings between riotous and reflective, from the chaos-soaked swagger of ‘Negroni, Baloney’ to the righteous stomp of ‘Clapton Pond’, a biting protest against rent culture and the erosion of creative space.
Then there’s ‘City of Angels’, a sweeping love song that ties together places and moments from across Jaz’s life. From Cable Street, where he first met the London busking songwriter community, to Griffith Park’s cosmic skyline and the winding roads of Highway 1 – it’s a tribute to the cities and journeys that shape us and to the people we love along the way.
“We don’t shout politics – we tell stories,” says Jaz. “But those stories are always rooted in the real world. City of Angels is about connection – to places, to memories, to each other.”
On ‘Fountain of Youth’, the band deliver a desperate love letter to life itself – a tale of mortality, madness and clinging to the good while it lasts.

Following a packed 2025 schedule, including a show-stealing set at London’s Electric Ballroom supporting Gogol Bordello, Tankus will bring ‘Valley of Distraction’ to UK stages with a headline tour in Spring 2026, performing across Liverpool, Glasgow, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol and beyond.
