SPOT, AGA’s new EP, is electronic music that could be visualized as a bright spot appearing on a fluorescent screen thanks to an electronic paintbrush, a circle of light projected in a limited area.

The lyrics are synonymous with slogans derived from concepts of depth, detached from classical songwriting.

The musical texture flirts with the song form, deviating from its structure when it risks intersecting with pop.

The extensive use of arpeggiators accompanies the listener on their own inner journey without any necessary purpose.

The tracklisting feautures five tracks: Ambient 2.0, released in June as a single, is a deconstruction of the song form and a percussive exploration with essential melodies; School is a critical judgement of the school system, in which the transmission of concepts is too often absent; Smile In My Self represents a rediscovered, conscious and fulfilling inner dimension; Hold Hands is a metaphor for hands joining together to represent the unification of society; Open In The Eyes is a daydream while living a reality.

SPOT deliberately draws influences from artists like New Order, Duran Duran, Brian Eno, Battiato, and also experimental music, all filtered through Antolini’s taste and experience.

The songs on SPOT were composed, performed, and mixed by Alessandro Antolini.

Guitars on School, Smile In My Self, and Hold Hands played by Max Bertoli.

Mastered by Alessandro Piatto (NOIA). From an idea by AGA, the videos for Ambient 2.0 and School were directed by Alexios Ciancio, who also designed the EP artwork.

AGA is a composer, creative performer and founder of the Drummer Caffè record label.

Born Alessandro Antolini, he’s been a drummer and drum teacher for over twenty years, after graduating at Middlesex University in London.

Antolini has collaborated with the late Maestro Ezio Bosso and has composed and published 4 albums to date: R[Evolution], Dream On and more recently Imagine and Short B-Movies.

The musician’s intense concert activity includes key appearances in Italian and European theaters and clubs, with highlights as the openings for Tom Barman (dEUS) and Blaine L. Reininger (Tuxedomoon).

The single Ambient 2.0, released in June 2025, has been highly praised also by international press:

Something conceptualized as it is created. The silence between the spaces says as much as the melodies. (Jammerzine, US)

Italian composer AGA invites listeners into a transcendent space.(Apricot Magazine, US)

It is easy to use Brian Eno‘s ambient experiments as a starting reference point, but those more strident sounds, resonant drums, delicate cymbal strikes, and even the percussive nature of the piano are what take such gossamer beauty and give it form. (Dancing About Architecture, UK)
