Maudixi’s journey into music started with curiosity and a love for crafting melodies, but it quickly became something deeper- a way to capture feelings and tell stories without words. Her songs act as a reflection of her inner world, an invitation for listeners to step inside and connect with the emotions she’s exploring. Songs like her newest offering, “not listening”, move with a natural, effortless flow, revealing how instinct and feeling guide her creative process more than strict structure or formula. In this conversation, Maudixi opens up about following emotion over theme, finding clarity through songwriting, and her goal of making each release more intentional, and emotionally precise- all while leaving space for listeners to discover pieces of themselves in her music.
How did you first start making music, and what drew you to creating your own songs?
I started making music because I found joy in creating cool melodies and discovering all the different ways you’re able to tell a story through sound.
“not listening” has a natural, flowing quality. When a song unfolds like that, do you think about the theme first, or the feeling?
Feeling always comes first for me. I usually follow the emotion and let it lead the direction of the song. The theme tends to reveal itself naturally once I’m locked into that space.
Your songs often leave space for listeners to connect with their own experiences. Is that something you consciously aim for?
Not consciously, but I do hope people find pieces of themselves in my music. I try to be honest in what I’m expressing, and that honesty tends to create its own relatability.
Looking at your catalog, it feels like each song has its own chapter. How do you see your music evolving as you keep releasing new material?
I want each release to feel more emotionally precise and more intentional than the last. My goal is to keep getting better at capturing raw feelings and layered storylines in a way that feels immersive and true.
Are there any artists, producers, or creators you’d want to work with in the future?
I’d love to work with Sounwave, ThankGod4Cody(Cody Fayne), Kal Banx, Sango, Monte Booker. I find that their pieces always resonate with me.
Your music has a reflective quality. Do you find that writing songs changes the way you understand your own emotions?
Absolutely. Writing helps me process feelings I might not fully understand in the moment. A lot of clarity comes after the song is finished.
Beyond the music itself, what moments or experiences inspire you the most when creating new work?
Anything that shifts my perspective. New emotions, new environments, or moments that make me see something familiar in a different way. Those are usually the sparks.
What’s on the horizon for you this year in music?
More experimentation, more exploration, and deeper storytelling. I’m focused on letting listeners further into my world.
