Brooklyn’s Boston Flowers Dive Into the Beyond With Afterlife

Brooklyn’s rising alternative rock outfit Boston Flowers are closing out 2024 with an evocative new chapter. The band has unveiled three singles — “Soul Creature,” “Fever Dream,” and “Cancer Man” — ahead of their upcoming EP Afterlife, arriving December 19, 2024 .

Rooted in introspection, the new material dives deep into themes of mortality, transformation, and the unknown spaces between life and death. Each track offers a different emotional lens: “Cancer Man” arrives with a striking music video filmed by James Morano, while “Fever Dream” is accompanied by a visually compelling lyric video featuring artwork by Ellis Gale. The final single and title track, “Afterlife,” will drop alongside another Morano-directed video, completing the EP’s conceptual arc .

Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Sam Trestman explains that the project was shaped by a decade working in healthcare, coupled with a personal near-death experience. The EP reflects “the polarity of human experience and undergoing its constant cycles of change,” giving Afterlife both emotional weight and lived authenticity .

Emerging from Brooklyn’s vibrant rock circuit, Boston Flowers first made their mark with their 2023 debut album Mondegreen. Known for blending melodic alternative rock with softcore grit, the band draws influence from acts like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys while staying firmly rooted in indie sensibilities. Their growing reputation has been cemented through performances at notable NYC venues including Arlene’s Grocery and The Delancey .

With Afterlife, Boston Flowers continue to evolve their sound — balancing nostalgia, vulnerability, and raw rock energy — while expanding their footprint across the New York music scene and beyond.
