ZETI Returns with “It Is What It Is – Prevail”: A Courageous Meditation on Resilience

After more than a decade, ZETI reemerges with It Is What It Is – Prevail, marking the first release from Margaret Stutt under any name since 2020. Known previously for her indie rock project Pezzettino, Stutt once lit up Milwaukee’s underground scene (2008–11), touring nationally before a severe health crisis in 2012 forced her into extended hospitalization and an indefinite pause from live performance.

What follows on this new EP is not a tentative return, but a disciplined and fearless artistic statement. The experimental spirit that has always defined ZETI remains intact—yet here it feels more cohesive, deliberate, and spiritually grounded. Stutt’s songwriting reflects hard-earned maturity, confronting a world darker and more fragile than many imagined. Yet this is not music of bitterness. Instead, it radiates resilience, conviction, and a quiet defiance rooted in healing.

Deeply informed by her Soto Zen practice, minimalism, and deconstruction of musical form, the EP treats sound as ritual. Poetry and texture unfold with intention, echoing Stutt’s belief in art’s redemptive power. The project’s earliest seeds were planted in grief following the passing of Jfre Coad and Rich Jacobs. Inspired by their DIY ethos, Stutt embraced new tools—including a synthesizer inherited from Coad—and rekindled collaboration with Milwaukee programmer Nez.

Now scheduling select performances for the first time in 15 years, Stutt returns not merely to perform—but to create intimate spaces for emotional processing, tenderness, and courageous living.
