In 2024, Sean Colton Bahry and his business partner Skye Emanuel co-founded YPK8, a music label built on craftsmanship, legacy, and artistic integrity. Both composers with Sony Music Publishing through Extreme Music, the duo brought years of experience to a project that demanded exceptional care: completing an unfinished vault recording from the late David Bowie titled “Isn’t It Evening.”
Entrusted with the rare opportunity to help shape the track’s final form, Bahry and Emanuel understood the responsibility that came with handling Bowie’s work. Collaborating closely with legendary guitarist Earl Slick—a longtime Bowie collaborator—they approached the recording with deep respect for the original artistry and intent.
To ensure the production honored Bowie’s unmistakable sound and spirit, the team enlisted renowned producer Bob Clearmountain. His expertise helped preserve the authenticity of the performance while bringing a modern polish to the release.
The result was both critically and commercially significant. Upon release, “Isn’t It Evening” debuted in the UK Top 10, marking an instant posthumous success. Major outlets, including Forbes, covered the single’s impact, highlighting the enduring resonance of Bowie’s music.
For Bahry, the achievement was humbling. More than chart positions or media attention, the project represented an opportunity to safeguard a piece of music history. Together with Emanuel and the YPK8 team, he helped ensure that Bowie’s voice—both literal and artistic—continues to reach new generations of listeners.
