About the Song
“I’ve always been a fan of Darrell Scott’s songwriting, and when I heard this song, I just knew that I had to sing it at shows. At the album release concert for my Paper Maps record, Matthew Blake (bass), Jordan Carlson (drums), Sarah Morris (vocals), and Dan Schwartz (lap steel) jumped on board and made pure magic. By some stroke of luck, it was recorded. This single feels like the luckiest of all breaks and the best postcard from the a really great moment.”-Doyle Turner
About Doyle Turner
Doyle Turner is a Northern Minnesota songwriter who mixes elements of folk, rock, and Americana into songs that seek connection. Growing up on the White Earth Nation, he is a proud Anishinaabe person. A national finalist in the Red Lodge Songwriting Contest, Doyle’s songs are firmly rooted in Cash and Kristofferson and feature lyrics that find you where you are with a warm voice that guides you back home.
Doyle’s latest album was a collaboration with his songwriting friend Ted Hajnasiewicz called Together, We Are The International Treasures. Touring as International Treasures, Doyle & Ted have made a name for themselves touring with an all-star band around the Midwest. They were nominated for two 2023 Midwest Country Music Organization Awards — for Americana Band of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. Doyle’s latest solo album Paper Maps was hailed for its “prefect country-folk style” (Americana UK).
When not playing music, Doyle enjoys time at home in Bemidji with his wife Molly – keeping bees, taking pictures, cross country skiing, walking and spending time on/in the water when it is warm enough. “I am a fan of slow mornings with cribbage and coffee,” Doyle says. “And of course, I love to read and write – thank you notes, poetry, journals, songs, notes on scrap paper, and lists.” Sometimes these notes become songs, and then it’s a good day.
