Singer-songwriter Tim Camrose returns with one of his most personal releases to date, “Break The Chains.” Written in New York City during his final overseas trip with his late wife, Deb, the track captures a deeply emotional moment, transforming personal loss into a message of strength and resilience.
Blending Americana influences with classic rock storytelling, the song takes inspiration from Cat Stevens’ iconic “Father & Son.” That influence can be felt in the song’s reflective tone and heartfelt lyrical approach, creating a connection that feels both intimate and universal.
Musically, “Break The Chains” is elevated by a powerful guitar solo from Jim Kirkpatrick, adding depth and intensity to an already moving composition.
Tim Camrose’s journey into music is anything but conventional. Based in the Northwest of England, he first discovered his passion for songwriting in London before stepping away from music for over four decades to pursue a successful career as a surgeon and university professor. Despite this, songwriting never left him — melodies and ideas continued to surface throughout his life, waiting for the right moment to be realised.
Now fully dedicated to his musical path, Camrose draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and Elton John. His work reflects a lifetime of experiences, shaped by travel, personal stories, and a deep connection to the United States, where he has spent time in cities like Chicago and Palo Alto.

“Break The Chains” will feature on his forthcoming album “American Stories,” set for release later this year. The project is dedicated to the memory of his late wife, making this release not just a song, but a heartfelt tribute.
With its honest storytelling and emotional core, “Break The Chains” stands as a powerful reminder that music can transform even the most difficult moments into something meaningful and enduring.
