Rodeo Terrorists have unveiled Saltire (Tartan Army), a bold and feel-good Scottish football anthem celebrating the passion, humour and spirit of Scotland supporters ahead of the next wave of World Cup excitement. Out now, the track blends Celtic-inspired melodies with electronic pop-rock energy to create a modern anthem designed for football fans everywhere.
Unlike the polished world of mainstream pop, Rodeo Terrorists thrives on raw creativity and DIY spirit. Behind the project is Richard, a 55-year-old English IT manager with a lifelong love of Scotland, who has swapped spreadsheets for synths to create music packed with personality, humour and heart.
Before launching Rodeo Terrorists, Richard worked behind the scenes in the music industry, building websites for some of the world’s biggest pop acts including Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and Steps. Now, using GarageBand, Logic and AI-assisted production tools, he has transformed years of musical ideas into an unconventional solo project with a unique sound.
Written in just 30 minutes during a break at work, Saltire (Tartan Army) captures the energy and humour of Scotland’s legendary Tartan Army supporters. The song combines folk-inspired elements with uplifting electronic production, creating something that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Richard describes the sound as if The Waterboys collided with World in Motion by New Order.
While the track is packed with football banter and terrace-ready hooks, it also carries a deeper message. Richard hopes to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and support fundraising efforts for MND Scotland in memory of a close friend who passed away from the disease.
With its catchy chorus, tongue-in-cheek humour and heartfelt spirit, Saltire (Tartan Army) proves football anthems can still be fun. Rodeo Terrorists have delivered a unique twist on the classic Tartan Army song — raw, entertaining and impossible not to sing along to.
