Do yourself a favour and dip into Judith Owen’s latest classic blues jazz album Suit Your Yourself, which she performed across two beautiful sets at London’s Bush Hall to a sell out crowd at the legendary Bush Hall on June 1st.
Interspersed with classics from other albums, Judith took the stage and immediately enchanted the crowd with not just great musicianship and vocal prowess but also an appeal which had her fans eating out of the palm of her hand. It was not just an evening of superb music, but delightful story telling.
Her set list ran from foot tappers such as Blossoms Blues and Real Gone Guy through to her piano led style epitomised by hypnotic , If I were a Bell. Vocally as expected Judith nails it , yet add to that her accomplished piano style and you understand why she has established herself over the past ten years as one of the most entertaining female artists on the jazz scene.
The all seated sell out audience clapped and laughed and cheered the whole evening. Ironically as I saw from posters around the hall, the venue will be showing the England Three Lions World Cup games, let me say they will have to go some to replicate the roars from the crowd and Judith and her superb band literally hit the ball into the back of the net one after another through a seamless set.
Congratulations to Judith and her band they gave us a night to remember
