Iris Danbury Drops Debut Single ‘About You’

August 27, 2026 Robert Smith

Thirteen-year-old Huddersfield singer-songwriter Iris Danbury follows her breakout debut ‘I Don’t Care’ with ‘About You’, a single that trades attitude for warmth without losing any of the energy that made her first release land. Where ‘I Don’t Care’ introduced Iris as self-assured and a little rebellious, this second outing turns that same directness toward someone else, celebrating the unexpected friendships that end up shaping a life.

Built on live guitars and sampled drums, the track carries the influence of Olivia Rodrigo, Paramore, Avril Lavigne and Busted, and it wears that pop-punk lineage well: big, hook-forward and full of movement, but never so busy that the sentiment gets lost. The premise is simple, having life more or less figured out until someone unexpected changes the picture, and Iris delivers it with conversational, uncomplicated lyrics that let the emotion sit naturally rather than tipping into something overwrought.

An accompanying music video extends the track’s youthful, energetic world rather than functioning as a bolted-on extra, giving Iris room to inhabit the song rather than simply illustrate it. Set alongside her debut, ‘About You’ makes a strong case that her songwriting has more than one gear: the confidence is still there, it has just found a more generous outlet. Bright, guitar-led and emotionally straightforward, it is a convincing second statement from an artist still very much building her catalogue.
