Texan Raiders Blend Country Music, Americana and Animation in ‘The Adventures of Glenn the Cowboy’

November 2, 2026 Sonic News

Texan Raiders are bringing a fresh creative dimension to country music, combining traditional Americana influences, heartfelt songwriting and animated storytelling in their album project,
The Adventures of Glenn the Cowboy.

Country music and storytelling have always gone hand in hand, but Texan Raiders are taking that relationship in an imaginative new direction. Bringing together melodic country songwriting, rockabilly influences and animated characters, the project offers a distinctive take on the Americana tradition.

With roots stretching back to the Yorkshire rockabilly scene, Texan Raiders is built around a lifelong appreciation of American roots music. The artist behind the project began his musical journey in Leeds, forming his first band, The Hell Cats, at just 15. Decades later, that early passion for country, rockabilly and Americana continues to shape the project’s sound.

A significant moment came in 1987, when a trip to Nashville and Memphis, including visits to Sun Studios and Graceland, strengthened his connection with the history of American music. That experience helped inspire the musical direction now explored through Texan Raiders.

Music That Brings People Together

At the centre of the project is The Adventures of Glenn the Cowboy, an album celebrating memorable melodies, relatable experiences and the timeless appeal of a well-told story.

One of its key tracks, ‘Log Settee’, explores the importance of taking time to sit down with the people who matter. Encouraging genuine conversation over the constant distractions of social media, the song reflects the project’s wider belief in music as a way of bringing people together.

The album also includes ‘All About Ya’, written in collaboration with songwriter Gavin Alexander following a meeting at a Chris Difford songwriting retreat in Italy.

The recordings feature an accomplished line-up of musicians, including pedal steel guitarist CJ Hillman, who has performed with Kiefer Sutherland and Billy Bragg, alongside fiddle player Ben Ivitsky, bassist Rory Dempsey and drummer Harpal Mudhar.

‘Diamonds in the Dust’ Set for Valentine’s Day

The next chapter of the Texan Raiders release campaign will see ‘Diamonds in the Dust’ arrive in time for Valentine’s Day, followed by ‘Wahoo Feelin’ Alive’.

The latter takes a more energetic approach, combining pop and country influences with a rhythm inspired by the electric slide. Celebrating the crossover appeal of line dancing, the track aims to bring different generations and musical backgrounds together on the dancefloor.

The two singles showcase different sides of the project, moving between the emotional storytelling associated with Americana and the upbeat energy of contemporary country.

An Animated Cowboy With a Story to Tell

Beyond the music, Texan Raiders has created an additional identity through Glenn, an animated cowboy who brings the album’s stories to life.

Alongside his on-and-off girlfriend Glenda, Glenn is portrayed as a likeable, down-to-earth character with plenty of familiar human imperfections. Humorous animated videos introduce audiences to the characters while offering a visual extension of the music.

There is also a longer-term ambition to explore the possibility of developing Glenn and Glenda into an animated country music series.

With its combination of musical heritage, engaging characters and a playful approach to visual storytelling, Texan Raiders is building a project that reaches beyond the traditional boundaries of a country music release.

The Adventures of Glenn the Cowboy is ultimately a celebration of great songs, storytelling and the enduring appeal of Americana.
